Covestro
Representatives from Covestro visited Baden Academy to present hands-on experiments to classes who volunteered to participate. Teachers were given the opportunity to choose grade level experiments that explored various topics, all of which covered PA State Standards.
In Kindergarten, Mrs. Keriotis and Mrs. Holl completed the Hidden Rainbows experiment where they explored how most black inks are a mixture of pigments by watching the ink “bleed” to reveal a wheel of many colors. Mrs. Keriotis writes: “We loved it. Just the right amount of time. Very cool.”
All five second grade classes and Ms. Pollock and Mrs. Boy’s first grade classes completed the Fossils experiment where they got the opportunity to cast and mold fossils. Mrs. Smith writes: “My class loved it! They were very engaged in the demonstration. Overall it was a good experience and the children learned a bunch in a very short time.” Mrs. Barnett shared: “The experiment was AWESOME! The kids loved it and it was very organized. The fossils turned out great!”
In third grade, Ms. Wagenhofer and Mrs. Sable completed the Bubbleology experiment where they were determining the volume of their lung capacity by measuring the volume of a bubble dome they blew with one breath of air. Mrs. Sable writes: We had a great time. They got to make giant bubbles and test out two different kinds of dish soaps to see which made a bigger bubble. A lot of my kids also collaborated to use all their air to make one giant bubble at their tables. Super fun!!”
4th – 6th grade classes will be scheduling their visits after the Holidays and are beyond excited!
