Ava, Gloria, Bryant, and Emily will serve as members of NASA’s virtual crew on Orion Flight Test-1 (EFT-1).

With the help of Mrs. Walaan, the research fellows team successfully completed the NASA Design Exploration Challenge. Videos from astronauts and NASA engineers guided the students in mastering difficult concepts of space radiation and radiation shielding.

The team tested card stock, tissue, clothes and construction paper to discover which had the best properties to withstand and block visible radiation, and then learned more about the type of materials being tested currently.

The made some marvelous discoveries and are waiting with great anticipation for the September 2014 launch of this extraordinary new spacecraft!
