Take Action Sends Aleenia to Leadership Camp

Aleenia (the extraordinary 5th grade leader of the Take Action Club featured in the Beaver County Times and the Frontiers in Learning podcast who won the PA Statewide Afterschool Youth Champion Award) needs your help.  She is attending the Me to We Take Action camp in Ontario and then leading her afterschool club to attend the September New York City We Day celebration!  Please contribute to this worthy cause.

The camp is held in Ontario.  Her trip to Harrisburg in the Spring to accept the Youth Champion award was her first time out of Beaver County.  Now she has a passport!  Her sister is driving her to the camp and Aleenia will be taking a plane back home.

The camp is sponsored by Me to We, the organization that has provided so much support and leadership resources to her Take Action club. It hosts children from around the world who are committed to explore local and global issues. Each day is different, jam-packed with exciting activities like campfires, spontaneous dance parties, outdoor games, and many leadership development activities led by our expert facilitators.

When she returns from camp in July, she’ll be getting to work organizing the Take Action club’s participation in the September 20 New York City We Day – a stadium filled with kids and teens fueled by the desire for change and the hope the world can be a better place.  We Day (held in multiple stadiums around Canada and the U.S.) launches a year of change. You can’t but a ticket to We Day. You earn it through service.  Tens of thousands in attendance. Hundreds of thousands watching online. Millions watching on TV. We Day is the movement of our time.  Aleenia will lead last year’s participants to attend this life changing day, but we need your help to pay for the bus and travel costs.

Accounting for this fundly account is being managed in a separate account by Ellen Cavanaugh, Aleenia’s mentor. It is audited by friend and teacher Sara McMillen. We will post regular updates on costs and expenses paid for as we reach our goals.

Thank you in advance for your support of this extraordinary young woman and the kids at Baden Academy who have picked up her cause to make the world a better place through service and awareness.
